Its freezing outside, snow has covered Coventry where we are based and our factory is very cold! So we thought we would take this opportunity to tell you that we offer beanie hat embroidery at Acorn Printing.

Printwear and Promotion Live 2012

We will be popping over to the Printwear and Promotion Live 2012 show again this year.

The show is taking place at the NEC, Birmingham, from February 26th to 28th 2012. It features all of the top names in the Printwear & Promotion industry, including BTC, Ralawise and All We do Is. The show is free to enter, all you need to do is to sign up on the website and you’ll get a unique badge and number.

As well as all the exhibitors there are numerous seminars going on throughout each day and there will be plenty of industry experts to chat to. Other highlights include fashion shows and Printwear & Promotion Garment Decoration Awards.

Last year, the highlight was the BTC Activewear stand which had a Harry Potter style theme to it and lots of free promotional tote bags with company logos on. There were some very impressive stands from all the main exhibitors.

We will be popping over with our neighbours, The Workwear Shack, to checkout the latest goings on in the print wear and promotion world. See you there!

Tabard Printing and Embroidery

Did you know we can print on tabards? We can print logos, slogans, designs and names on to tabards for your company. In fact, we could print anything you would like onto a tabard! As well as tabard printing we can offer embroidery onto tabards.

Tabards are a sleeveless top and usually come with a pocket in the front of it. Tabards are generally using in the catering industry, most commonly in kitchens and serving areas. Other uses include hospitality and cleaning industries to keep staff smart and clean. Tabards used to be popular in the middle ages, often carrying the coat of arms or other identifications, particularly important for the battlefield!

We stock Premier tabards and include a huge range of colours for you to choose from. The tabard has side tabs with adjustable stud fastened closures and are 68cm long.

The weight of the tabard is 210gms.

Did you know we can supply personalised school bags for your school, club, nursery or organisation? We have a great range of bags, gymsacs, shoesacs, book bags, backpacks and high visibility bags for children.

We can print your school emblem, logo, slogan, name or design onto your chosen bag. Send us what you would like on the bags and we can do the rest. Our friendly Art department will handle your requirements and help you with your logos ors designs if you have any problems. The print areas on all bags vary so please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.

The bags come in all kinds of colours for you to choose from, including hi viz. We stock Quadra bags which are of very high quality.

The T Shirt Lifecycle

We found this great t shirt information graphic over the weekend of the lifecycle of a t shirt, it made us smile. We thought it would be good to share with everyone here on the blog. The image is the lifecycle of a t shirt, starting when the t shirt is the best t shirt in your cupboard through to it becoming an undershirt and ending up as a duster.

An infographic or information graphic is a visual illustration of some data or knowledge, they seem to be very popular on the web at the moment.

Most of my clothes follow this flowchart! My Italia 1990 World Cup T Shirt and Shell suit fall into the Keeper category at the moment, but could quite easily be moved into archive or resell category as I run out of room in my cupboard.

We have a great new range of new sports wicking tops for you to personalise for your club, charity, business or society.

Here at Acorn Printing we can print your logo, strap line, designs on these tops which are perfect for sports as they have moisture control.

Wicking is defined as moisture movement by capillary action. In the case of clothing it is referring to the technical fabrics that feature in special wicking clothing and how they can remove sweat away from your skin and on to the surface of the clothing where it can be removed by the elements such as evaporating.

Fairtrade Towns in UK

Great to hear that there will be another Fairtrade Town in the UK next year. Plans are afoot to make Cumbernauld a Fairtrade town alongside Motherwell up in North Lanarkshire.

There are many Fairtrade towns around the UK and it began back in 2000 with Garstang in Lancashire when it stated they were ‘the Worlds first Fairtrade Town’. There are over 500 Fairtrade Towns with more to come as more towns are planning to apply.

So what is a Fairtrade town? A Fairtrade Town is any area such as a town, city, village, county, zone, island or borough that is committed to supporting Fairtrade and making sure that products with the FAIRTRADE Mark are used (from Fairtrade Foundation). Anywhere can achieve a Fairtrade status and everyone should be involved.

AWD have launched a new polyester tshirt for 2012. The contrast t shirts is available in12 colours and will be ideal for printing club logo or straplines for charity runs etc. Acorn will introduce this new moisture control t shirt when it is available in January 2012. New wicking section for 2012

We are to open a new section for all wicking and moisture control clothing. The sports and charity events now demand a better t shirt for running, track and general sports events. Acorn now have a special section devoted to all garments that are a wicking polyester or a layered material which pulls moisture away from the body when working hard at your sport.
