Printwear and Promotion Live 2012

We will be popping over to the Printwear and Promotion Live 2012 show again this year.

The show is taking place at the NEC, Birmingham, from February 26th to 28th 2012. It features all of the top names in the Printwear & Promotion industry, including BTC, Ralawise and All We do Is. The show is free to enter, all you need to do is to sign up on the website and you’ll get a unique badge and number.

As well as all the exhibitors there are numerous seminars going on throughout each day and there will be plenty of industry experts to chat to. Other highlights include fashion shows and Printwear & Promotion Garment Decoration Awards.

Last year, the highlight was the BTC Activewear stand which had a Harry Potter style theme to it and lots of free promotional tote bags with company logos on. There were some very impressive stands from all the main exhibitors.

We will be popping over with our neighbours, The Workwear Shack, to checkout the latest goings on in the print wear and promotion world. See you there!

AWD wicking Contrast t shirt for 2012

AWD have launched a new polyester tshirt for 2012. The contrast t shirts is available in12 colours and will be ideal for printing club logo or straplines for charity runs etc. Acorn will introduce this new moisture control t shirt when it is available in January 2012. As soon as we have pictures of it we will make it available to the website

New wicking section for 2012

We are to open a new section for all wicking and moisture control clothing. The sports and charity events now demand a better t shirt for running, track and general sports events. Acorn now have a special section devoted to all garments that are a wicking polyester or a layered material which pulls moisture away from the body when working hard at your sport.

Embroidery Machines in Full Swing

Our embroidery machines are in full swing this week as we embroider a wide range of garments, including hoodies, sweatshirts, shirts and sports wear for our clients. Our Embroidery Manager is working hard to get out all the orders this week.

We are delighted to embroider for a variety of businesses and organisations including Universities, Sports Clubs, Student Societies, Charities and Individuals. We have several embroidery machines like the one shown below in the picture, this means if you’d like to order 1 to 1000s we can fulfill your order in a very short space of time.

Installer Live 2011 Review

We’re back in the office and just finished unpacking from 4 days at Installer Live at the NEC with our friends from The Workwear Shack. It was a great show where we gave out over 1000 leaflets and brochures and over 1500 keyring bottle openers. Our promotional items were very popular with the attendees who came from all over the country, the furthest attendee we met was from Scotland and closely followed by a group of students from Cornwall. We gave away our own printed Workwear Shack T Shirts to anyone who bought workwear or had a quote.

We sold lots of workwear on the stand including boots, jackets and gilets, created stacks of quotes and took orders for personalised workwear and vehicle graphics. Business owners we spoke to were very keen to get personalised polo shirts with their logo embroidered on the shirt and vehicle graphics were very popular.

The other exhibitors were very interesting, lots of interesting solar panel companies promoting the latest technology to tool manufactures and their latest offerings. We even saw some celebrities during the 4 days including darts players James Wade and Tony O’Shea and Tommy Walsh.

The event was extremely well organised and efficient, we had no problems erecting or dismantling our stand in such a short space of time.

Cotton prices settle down

Since the floods in Pakistan in 2009 along with several other weather related problems in growing areas such as Russia and America effecting cotton prices, we have seen cotton reach an all time high moving from around 30cents a bale 18 months ago up to $2.30. This has had a dramatic effect on the textile prices in Europe and around the World.

In times of recession it is difficult to convince the user that prices are on the increase whilst their own earnings are been squeezed. The price of synthetics such as polyester has also risen due to the price of oil so we have seen polyester based textiles also rise over the last 18 months.

It does look as if the prices have settled and cotton has even started to come down again. The problem is whether the growers will stay producing cotton or switch their crops to more profitable areas such as Bio fuels and food based products.
